I work on a mac at home and a PC at work. The IT people have given me all the info necessary to set up VPN. But I'm wondering if it is possible to set up Mac - PC VPN. If so, does anyone know of any good guides to walk me through the process.

Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi blg002:

Here's how to setup a VPN connection on both a Mac and a PC:

Windows XP:
1) Open Network Connections by clicking on Start, then Control Panel, then click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
2) Select Network Tasks and click Create a New Connection and then click Next to proceed.
3) When the New Connection Wizard appears click next to proceed to the next steps.
4) When the Network Connection Type page appears click Connect to the Network at My Workplace and then click next.
5) On the Network Connection page click Virtual Private Network [or VPN] connection, and then click next to proceed further.
6) Type your name of the connection or your company name, and click next to proceed.
7) When the VPN Server Selection page type the Domain Name System (DNS) name or Internet Protocol (IP) address of your company's VPN server and click next to proceed to the next screen.
8) At the end of the wizard click finish to complete the wizard configuration.

Windows Vista:
1) Open the Connect to a Workplace wizard by clicking the Windows button (AKA Start button).
2) Click on the Control Panel and then select Network and Internet.
3) Click Network and Sharing Center followed by Set Up a Connection or Network, and finally click on Connect to a Workplace.

For more information on setting up network connections check out Microsoft Windows Vista Help site at http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/default .mspx. For more information when connecting to a VPN on Microsoft Windows XP visit http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobil ity/expert/vpns.mspx.

Mac OS X 10.5.x (Leopard):
1) From the Apple Menu select System Preferences and then click the View menu and select Network.
2) Click on Click+ located near the bottom left hand corner of the Network Preferences window and choose VPN and select the VPN type specified by your company.
3) In the Server Address type in the VPN server address or IP address given to you by your company IT department.
4) Click Authentication Settings to setup special settings if required by your company.
5) Click Ok and then click Advanced Features, then Options, and make sure that "Send all traffic over VPN connection" is checked and then click Ok to save the settings.
6) Click Apply and click Connect

Hi, Mike! Hi everyone!

I've followed the steps you have indicated above to configure my vpn on my mac.

I configured my mac with your instructions.....but when i'm trying connect with my win-pc, i can't do it.

An error message displays this one:

"The client could not connect to the remote computer. Either remote connections are not enabled, the computer is too busy to accept new connections, or network problems are preventing your connection. Try connecting again later or contact your administrator."

VPN settings:
Options tab - checked the option you mentioned.
TCPIP tab - IPV4 setting = Use PPP
IPV6 setting = Automatically
Proxies tab - Configure proxies = Manually

Why does it happen this?

My mac: leopard OS X 10.5.6
My pc: win xp

Best regards..Any help would be appreciated.

Abelardo.
